"AI technology is crucial for the public sector's ability to operate more efficiently and provide relevant services to citizens," says Iwona Carlsson, CDO of Kungsbacka Municipality, in an AI Sweden Podcast conversation.
Last year, the politicians on the Health Board of Kungsbacka Municipality made a principal decision: the municipality should strive to use AI in the care services it provides to its citizens.
"Decisions like this make it easier to start working with AI when opportunities arise," states Iwona Carlsson.
Kungsbacka is one of the participants in a project coordinated by AI Sweden, which explores potential use cases for large language models (LLMs). The municipality is also developing a tool for building permit applications.
"This tool is being developed under an open license, allowing other municipalities to use or build upon it," Carlsson explains.
The decision to choose an open license stems from her conviction that Swedish municipalities need to collaborate more on AI initiatives.
"We are currently discussing with other municipalities in Halland and the Region Halland on how we can use edge learning to collaborate more effectively."
